That said the Laser and clones do flap a bit even in light winds where the Phreeranger type move less.

It may however be a case of bend or break as the Laser is known to stand up to pretty strong winds.

Yeah I think some manufacturers use clips etc as they look more up to date, the method of attaching the crossing pole on the Mythos uses 2 different plastic fittings manufactured by DAC, how you'd go about replacing them if the broke isn't something I want to think about.

I read somewhere that IIRC an aeroplane designer stated that you reach the peak of development not when there's nothing more to add but rather when there's nothing left to remove.

I like that idea, also known as KISS.Mac Ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11212410938991488721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2910485704176747208.post-865406140073461202014-10-02T15:46:07.401+01:002014-10-02T15:46:07.401+01:00An interesting review, it's always good to rea...An interesting review, it's always good to read about new tents especially when it's a brand seldom encountered here.
For this type of tent a longitudinal pole always seemed more logical to me than the usual transverse one, but it really needs that short cross pole to provide some width and TN wouldn't want to increase the weight I guess.
I'm quite a fan of pole sleeves too but they seem to have fallen out of favour for the clip method on all the tents I've looked at.
I've started using a Big Agnes tent that has one of those kickstand vents, on this one it's just a piece of stiff velcro that lies flat to close the vent and props it open when required.
I sense that some good simple design ideas were lost when the old style tents faded from the limelight.
GeoffChttp://v-g.me.uk/blog/noreply@blogger.com
