My previous stove (an old Campingaz canister-top model) used Campingaz C206 canisters, but I take it the Espress Spider uses the CV Plus (270/300/470) canisters? I've always found that Campingaz seems to be the most widely-available canister.

MarkMark Colemannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2910485704176747208.post-57028260385888234582011-06-01T00:01:11.919+01:002011-06-01T00:01:11.919+01:00A great stove that I got alot of use out of in the...A great stove that I got alot of use out of in the winter. Great for boiling water that is. I have found that when cooking it is pretty difficult to avoid burning your food. This is due to the burner head directing the flame into a small spot rather than fanning out. My thin titanium pot probably did not help. I threw away two dinners on my Rum backpack in March!James Boulterhttp://backpackingbongos.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2910485704176747208.post-73106857309512916952011-05-23T11:20:17.656+01:002011-05-23T11:20:17.656+01:00Interesting review Richard. Looking at your video I reckon the stove could probably squeeze a few boils out of nearly empty canisters I have knocking around my cupboard!Jon Pattersonhttp://www.jonpatterson.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2910485704176747208.post-53225896077122686302011-05-19T20:44:10.785+01:002011-05-19T20:44:10.785+01:00Mark and alan, I expected the stove to work well h...Mark and alan, I expected the stove to work well having read a few reviews, your's included and I definitely wasn't disappointed, the perfomance on the almost empty canister was outstanding considering I've had stove go out at similar fuels levels when testing in my garage, the Express Spider was tested outdoors (I'll add the video once it's uploaded to Youtube).

Maria, that's a 100g canister, the pot is only 150mm dia by 80mm deep which illustrates how compact the stove is. It would fit together with a 220/250g canister in a pot of the same diameter if the overall height of pot and lid was at least 110mm if the canister was stored on it's side.Mac Ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11212410938991488721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2910485704176747208.post-68642430411382338982011-05-19T10:19:38.781+01:002011-05-19T10:19:38.781+01:00Hi Richard,

The serrated pan supports are excellent with numerous pan widths.
The regulator is excellent especially at low temperatures, an area where other gas stoves lack control.
It is a little noisy and slightly heavier than i would have liked but for me, who is basically a meths man, (not drinking it you understand) it’s the stove i grab first so that proves its worth. It works well in all conditions and stores well inside a small pan.
The only way i can think of bettering it was if they decided to do a titanium body version of the same design.
Thanks.AlanRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07180571503542781921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2910485704176747208.post-45050205837127977802011-05-19T07:14:01.692+01:002011-05-19T07:14:01.692+01:00A nice review, thanks! Would a 227 g canister be too tall to fit in?-maria-https://www.blogger.com/profile/00769586507003743048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2910485704176747208.post-9097268417800883512011-05-18T23:46:48.166+01:002011-05-18T23:46:48.166+01:00Good review, Richard. I agree with many of the conclusions you reached and have found this to be an excellent stove to use over the last six months I have owned it.
Markmarkswalkingbloghttp://markswalkingblog.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
